If the square "releases" by itself while the button is held, this is also a sign of contact bounce.
How to read the result:
Double trigger: two presses of the same button with an interval below the threshold. A human physically cannot press one button more often than once every 80–100 ms, so this is not your error, but contact bounce.
Normal: 0 double triggers after 20+ clicks on a button.
Defect: double triggers occur regularly (from 5% of clicks) or have appeared at least 3 times. This is usually wear of the left button microswitch.
Rest test: remove your hand from the mouse for 30 seconds. Any press during this time is a spontaneous click made by the mouse itself.
Hold check: hold the button for 3–5 seconds and do not release it. If a release and a repeated press appear in the log, the contact is lost under load.
Note: the test sees only what the mouse reports to the system. If your driver or firmware smooths out contact bounce, some defects may be hidden. If the problem occurs in games but not here, try another USB port and avoid programs such as X-Mouse Button Control.
